Privacy policy
GlowRecs is a small editorial site that turns publicly posted Reddit beauty discussions into product rankings. We do our best to keep this site fast, useful, and respectful of your privacy. This page explains, in plain language, what we collect, what we don't, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
The data controller for this site is the operator of GlowRecs, an independent editorial project. You can reach us at hello@glowrecs.com for any privacy question, correction, or deletion request — see the contact page for our standard response times.
What we collect
We do not run an account system, a newsletter, a comment form, or a checkout flow. We do not ask you to sign in. We do not collect names, addresses, phone numbers, or payment details. Everything below is either anonymous analytics, basic server-log information, or affiliate-link metadata.
- Analytics events. We use Google Analytics 4 to count how many people visit each page and which buttons they click (for example, when somebody clicks an outbound buy-button). The data is aggregated and pseudonymous. We use it to understand which pages help readers and which don't.
- Server logs. Our server keeps standard access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp) for a short retention window so we can debug errors and detect abuse. We do not link these logs to individuals.
- Outbound click metadata. When you click a "Buy on Amazon" or similar button, the destination URL contains a tracking identifier that tells the retailer the click came from GlowRecs. The retailer (not GlowRecs) decides what to log on their end; their privacy policy applies once you leave our site.
Cookies
GlowRecs sets a small number of cookies and similar identifiers. We've listed the categories below; we try to keep the list short.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4).
The
_gaand_ga_*cookies let GA4 distinguish unique visitors and remember whether a session is new. They expire after two years and contain a random ID, not your name. - Cloudflare cookies. Our site sits behind Cloudflare,
which sets cookies such as
__cf_bmto filter abusive bot traffic. These are strictly necessary for the site to load reliably. - Affiliate-network cookies. Once you click an outbound buy link, the destination retailer (for example Amazon) may set a cookie in their domain to attribute a future purchase back to GlowRecs. GlowRecs never reads those cookies. They are set on the retailer's domain, governed by the retailer's privacy policy, and expire on the retailer's schedule.
GlowRecs does not run advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, social-media embeds, or third-party scripts beyond the items listed above.
Affiliate links
GlowRecs is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program
under the tag glowrecs-20.
Most of our outbound product buttons route to Amazon. If you buy something
after clicking one of those links, Amazon may pay us a small commission at
no additional cost to you. We don't see your payment details or your cart.
Full mechanics are on our
affiliate disclosure page.
In the future we may add additional affiliate relationships — for example with mainstream beauty retailers or with brand-direct storefronts where the landing-page experience is better than Amazon. If that happens, this page and the affiliate disclosure page will both be updated to name the additional partners and explain how to recognize each kind of link. Rankings on GlowRecs are produced by the methodology described on our methodology page — no affiliate partnership has ever moved a product up or down in any ranking, and that's a rule we intend to keep.
Visitors from the EU, UK, and EEA
A large share of our readers come from Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium, and other European countries. The GDPR (and equivalent UK law) gives you the right to know what we hold about you, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to object to processing.
To exercise any of those rights, email hello@glowrecs.com. Please include enough information for us to find the records (for example the approximate date you visited and the page URL). Because we do not run an account system, we usually have very little to look up; that's by design.
If you'd rather not be measured at all, the simplest fix is to install the official Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or to block third-party cookies in your browser. Both approaches stop GA4 from registering your visit on every site that uses it, including ours. You can also use any standard cookie-blocking extension; nothing on GlowRecs depends on tracking cookies to work.
Visitors from California (CCPA / CPRA)
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. If you are a California resident and want to confirm that — or ask us to delete what little we hold — email the address above.
Children
GlowRecs is written for adults making personal-care purchasing decisions. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If a guardian believes a child's data has reached us, please write in and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change anything material on this page — for example adding a new affiliate network, switching analytics providers, or introducing a real cookie-consent banner — we'll update the "Updated" date at the top and keep an explicit summary of what changed at the bottom of this section. There are no material changes to summarize as of May 2026; this is the first published version of the policy.
