Terms of use
These terms describe what GlowRecs is, what it isn't, and what you agree to by using the site. We've written them in plain language on purpose. If anything below is unclear, please email hello@glowrecs.com and we'll explain.
1. What GlowRecs is
GlowRecs is an editorial site. We aggregate publicly posted Reddit discussions about beauty products and turn them into rankings, summaries, and buying guides. Every cited opinion is attributed to its original Reddit author. Our scoring formula is described on the methodology page; a longer overview of the project is on the about page.
2. Not medical, not professional advice
The content on GlowRecs is general consumer information. It is not medical, dermatological, or professional advice. We are not licensed healthcare providers. Skin, hair, and fragrance products interact with individual chemistry, allergies, and existing conditions in ways we cannot evaluate for any specific reader. Before starting, changing, or stopping any product — especially anything containing actives such as retinoids, exfoliating acids, hydroquinone, prescription benzoyl peroxide, or products used near the eyes — please consult a board-certified professional. If a product causes a reaction, stop using it and seek qualified medical help.
3. No guarantee of product results
Our rankings reflect what real people on Reddit have said about a product at a moment in time. We do not promise that a product will work the same way for you that it worked for the redditors quoted. Results vary by skin type, hair type, climate, age, concurrent products, formulation revisions by the manufacturer, and dozens of other variables we have no ability to track. Treat every ranking as a starting point for your own research, not as a prediction about your individual outcome.
4. Affiliate disclosure
GlowRecs participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and may add additional affiliate partnerships in the future. If you click an outbound buy button and complete a purchase within the standard referral window, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate income does not influence rankings, sentiment scores, verdict labels, or which products are included in the index. The full mechanics are on the affiliate disclosure page.
5. External links and third parties
GlowRecs links out to Amazon, to Reddit threads we cite, to brand sites, and occasionally to other beauty retailers. Once you leave GlowRecs, you are subject to that third party's own terms of use, privacy policy, and return policy. We do not control the destination site's prices, availability, shipping, customer service, or the authenticity of products sold by third-party sellers on marketplaces. Where it matters — for example beauty devices that can be counterfeited — we may flag a preference for buying from an authorized seller; the choice of where to buy remains yours.
6. Reddit content and attribution
Quotes from Reddit are reproduced with attribution to the original author and a link back to the source thread. If you are a redditor whose comment appears on the site and you would like it removed or attributed differently, please write to hello@glowrecs.com; we act on legitimate requests within 48 hours.
7. Intellectual property
Original editorial text, design, photography commissioned by GlowRecs, and the aggregated dataset belong to GlowRecs and are licensed for personal, non-commercial reading. The aggregated Reddit corpus published on the methodology page is offered under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence for research re-use. Brand names, product names, packaging photography, and trademarks referenced in our guides are the property of their respective owners and are used in the context of editorial commentary, not endorsement.
8. Limitation of liability
GlowRecs is provided "as is." We make no warranty that any product will perform as the cited Reddit users say it did, that any price shown on the site reflects the current price at the destination retailer, or that any third-party site we link to is accurate, available, or safe. To the fullest extent allowed by applicable law, GlowRecs and its operator are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the site, your reliance on any information on it, or your purchase of any product after following a link from it. Nothing in this paragraph limits any right you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be waived by contract — for example, statutory rights under EU or UK consumer law.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally — for example to name a new affiliate partner, to clarify language, or to reflect a change in applicable law. When we do, the "Updated" date at the top will change. If a change is material, we'll summarize what changed at the bottom of section 9 so you don't have to diff the page yourself.
